Spinach Chappathi


INGREDIENTS:
  • Wheat Flour -  1 cup
  • Green chilly - 2 nos
  • Garlic - 2 pods
  • Spinach - 3 cup
  • Ghee - 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
PREPARATION METHOD:

  • Put spinach in boiling water for 2 mins, drain it.
  • Add garlic, green chillies and spinach in a mixer and grind it into a fine paste.
  • Add this paste, salt and ½ tsp ghee to the flour and mix well.
  • Knead the dough with hands gently until it becomes soft and keep aside for 30 minutes.
  • Make the dough into small balls and is rolled out into chappathi.
  • Heat the tawa and cook both sides of the rolled Chappathi by smearing little ghee.

Cheera Thoran / Spinach Stir fry



Cheera / Spinach Thoran is a simple and nutritious dish which is good for health.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Finely Chopped Red Spinach (chuvanna cheera) - 2cups
  • Grated coconut - ½ Cup
  • Chilly Powder - ½ tsp
  • Red Chilly -2 nos
  • Rice - 1 tsp
  • Garlic - 1 nos
  • Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Oil - as needed
  • Salt - to taste


PREPARATION METHOD:

  • Heat Oil in a pan.
  • Add Mustard seeds and Red chilli and let it splutter.
  • Add Rice and fry it.
  • Once rice becomes crispy add Spinach / Cheera,salt,turmeric powder.
  • Cover the pan and cook for 2 mins.
  • Crush Coconut,Garlic and chilly powder and add to it.
  • Mix well and slow down the flame and stir well till the water dries up completely.
  • Remove from fire.

Recommended Combination: Serve hot with Rice.

Palak Thoran / Spinach Thoran


Spinach is an source of many vitamins,minerals and anti-oxidents.There are different types of Spinach.Kerala Spinach is red in colour and has less water content . Palak is green in colour.
Spinach thoran is made up of Spinach,Grated Coconut and garlic.It is very delicious and easy to make.

INGREDIENTS:
  • Finely Chopped Spinach - 2cups

  • Rice - 1 tsp
  • Garlic - 1 nos
  • Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp

Palak Paneer


Paneer is also known as Indian cheese.
Palak Paneer is a thick gravy curry which is prepared by cooking Paneer cubes with Spinach, Onion and Tomato.

INGREDIENTS:
  • Spinach - ½ lb or 250 gm
  • Paneer - 125 gm or ¼ lb
  • Chopped Onion - 1 nos
  • Chopped Tomato - 1 large
  • Chopped Green Chilly - 3 nos
  • Ginger Garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Chilly Powder - 1tsp
  • Corriander powder – 1 tsp
  • Cumin seed – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Garam masala powder - ½ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tsp

PREPARATION METHOD:
  • Cut Paneer into cubes and lightly fried till brown.
  • Put Spinach in boiling water for 2 min.
  • mash it in a mixer.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add cumin seed and let it splutter.
  • Add onions and green chilly and fry till golden brown.
  • Add turmeric and ginger garlic paste , corriander powder,garam masala pwder, and red chili powder.
  • Add tomato puree and salt and cook for 5- 6 minutes on medium heat.
  • Add the spinach and cook till oil seperates.
  • Add Paneer pieces to the gravy and and cook in low fire for 3 -4 minutes.
Recommended Combination: Serve hot with Chappathi, Roti.
